About Our Newport News Doulas
Meet Kathleen
I’m the founder of Birth and Milk, mom of two boys, DONA Certified Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and IBCLC in Newport News, VA. I have been working in the perinatal support field since July 2020, but it was my own experiences with birth and breastfeeding that led me to birth work—I was inspired to support others the way I had been supported. As a pre-eclampsia survivor, VBAC mom, and parent to two kiddos who struggled to nurse with tongue ties I know just how hard it can be to navigate the medical system and advocate for the birth and parenting journey you want. But, birth and parenthood have a way of helping us discover strengths we didn't know we had. With knowledge, preparation, and an experienced doula and IBCLC to guide you, you can absolutely feel empowered as you welcome your little one to your family. It is the greatest honor of my life to help my clients find their own strength along their unique journey into parenthood.
When I’m not doula-ing you can find me fighting the squash bugs in my garden, crocheting, and adventuring around Hampton Roads with my two sons, our lunatic beagles, and my husband of nearly 15 years.

Not a Tricare beneficiary? Additional doula coverage is in the works, but not yet accessible. For lactation care I accept Aetna, Cigna and United with more coming soon! For plans not currently covered I can accept cash, card, HSA or FSA and provide a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Meet Christina
I’m a DONA-trained postpartum doula and Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in Newport News. With a background in engineering and non-profit work, I’ve always been passionate about problem-solving and building connections. Now, I’m excited to bring those skills to my work with new parents, helping families gain confidence as they navigate the transition into parenthood.
When I’m not working with families, I’m spending time with my favorite people—my preschool-aged son, who loves a good adventure; my toddler daughter, who is a connoisseur of fine dining; and my husband, a history enthusiast and electrical designer. Together, we enjoy hiking, board games, and trips to Busch Gardens and Water Country.

Meet Sarah
I’m a certified birth doula based in Gloucester, Virginia, serving families across the Peninsula and Middle Peninsula regions. I believe every woman deserves to feel seen, safe, and supported as she brings her baby into the world, and I'm honored to empower mothers and families as they experience one of life’s most powerful transitions. My approach blends hands-on comfort measures with evidence-based techniques and a calm, nurturing presence.
I became a birth doula to help all women and their families feel safe, prepared, and confident (maybe even downright excited!) to give birth. Whether you want your experience to be in a hospital with pain management medication, or unmedicated at home or at a birth center, you are entitled to informed consent, respect for your decisions, and personalized attention and care. I would be honored to be the birth doula that advocates for and supports you to achieve the peaceful, empowered birth experience that all women deserve.
In my free time, I love being outside with my husband and son enjoying all of the adventure and beauty that coastal Virginia has to offer!

Meet Jess
I began birth work in 2020 after my own experiences with pregnancy and labor opened a new world for me. I believe birth can be a truly transformational experience. Quality support and preparation during your pregnancy is the key to making your experience an empowering one. My aim is to create the space for you to clarify your goals and build a plan to move forward toward achieving those goals. Everyone's journey is different and there's plenty of room for your unique pathway to unfold.
